Rules

Art. 1 PARTICIPATION

The participation is open to every sculpture-sculptress of any nationality and age, but they must possess a VAT number and they have to be up-to date with national insurance and fiscal policy and have no legale pendence in their country of residence, or where they work.
The location for the creation of the models may be carried out wherever the artist wants, but the location for the accomplishement of the sculpture of the selected artist must be created in Ossola -VB- Italy, in one of the laboratories, that the Organizing Secretary will then comunicate. Any comunication with the Organizing Secretary and between the Organizing Secretary and the artist should preferably be in a written form either in Italian or English.

Art. 2 SENDING YOUR APPLICATION FORM

All the artists who want to take part in this competition must send, the application form, by a registred mail,as defined in the scheme of the attachment 1,to the Organizing Secretary: STONE AND ITS PASTORAL MUSE, via De Gasperi, 25 –28845- Domodossola –VB- Italy. The envelope must be sealed and sent by 5 p.m on July 31st 2007,and should contains:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Three pictures of the artists past work
  • A fotocopy of identification

The Organizing Secretary will aknowledge the receipt of their application form by e-mail.

Art. 3 SENDING THE MODELS

All the artists can participate with a single model, it must be original and cannot be a work that has been previously exhibited publicly and shall not be submitted to any other competition. The artists may choose the material in which to build the model and it has to be in scale (1:10) 3-dimensional. The model must be sent by courrier (preferably) or by mail to the Organizing Secretary : STONE AND ITS PASTORAL MUSE Assograniti VCO via De Gasperi, 25 –28845- Domodossola –VB- Italy by 5 p.m on September 10th 2007.
The model should’t have without any sign of recognition and the packing should be solid enough in order to prevent any damage. The model should be sent along with an envelope, both without any sign of recognition, closed with sealing-wax and should include
attachment 2, which states:

  • Title of the work
  • Description of the work mentioning the aims of the competition

The Organizing Secretary will aknowledge the receipt of their application form by e-mail.

Art. 4 JURY

Models will be selected by experts and art crictics.
The number of people taking part in the judging committee, may vary from five to seven.

Art. 5 THE JURY'S JUDGMENT

Among all the received models, the jury will select three models and the artists will receive a communication by registred mail within the 10th/10/2007.
The selected artist chosen for the creation of the sculpture must confirm his/her participation to the Organizing Secretary, within seven days from receiving the communication.
If he/she declines his/her participation, he/she will loose all the rights defined in the art.6.
The Organizing Secretary will then send a new communication, folllowing the order of merit.

Art. 6 COMPENSATION

Three models will be selected in order of merit.
The first chosen artist, who will carry out the sculpture in Serizzo Antigorio, will receive a compansation of Euro 35.000 (thirthy-five thousand Euro Tax included).
This amount includes the expenses for creative production, travelling, accomodation and food.
This artist will receive 30% of the amount, another 20% will be given when he/she has accomplished 50% of the work, and the remaining 50% will be given to him/her on the day of the exhibition of the sculpure, on May the 4th 2008 (during the event Domo Bruna , that will take place in Domodossola –VB-Italy).
The sculpture must be finished and be available to the Organizing Secretary by April the 15th 2008.
The compensation will be given by a bank draft (not transferable).
The organizing partners of the competition, will provide the artist with the stone material: a raw block of Serizzo Antigorio, with dimensions suitable for the creation of the sculpture.
The artist will be supplied with a compressor and electricity from the laboratory, during working days and working hours.
If the artist should need the help of other workers, to carry out the sculpture, all the compensation and insurance policies, should be covered by the artist.
The second artist chosen will receive Euro 4000 (four thousand Euro).
The third artist chosen will receive Euro 3000 (three thousand Euro).

Compensation will be given to the artists, by a bank draft not transferable, the day of the exhibition of the sculpture on May 4th 2008 (during the event Domo Bruna in Domodossola, -VB- Italy).
Each compensation includes the reimbursment for the artistic production, travelling, accomodation, food and TAX.

Art. 7 INSURANCE

Insurance policies or whatever may be considered useful for the accomplishment of the sculpture or any third party is the liability of the artist.

Art. 8 MODELS

The three models rewarded according to the art. 6 will become property of the two assosiation APA and Assograniti VCO, while the other models will be sent to the artists, from the Organizing Secretary, within two months from the decision of the jury.

Art. 9 RESPONSABILITY

The Organizing Secretary will look after the models received with utmost care, however he declines any responsability for damage or possible loss.

Art. 10 COPYRIGHT

The artist authorizes the Organizing Secretary the legal use of the images for artistic and promotional purposes, according to the Italian Law 633/41 for copyright, D.Pr 19/79, D.Leg.154/67, D.Leg.95/01 and integrations.

Art. 11 EVENTS

All the models received, will be displayed in two exhibtions in Domodossola and Turin: the exhibitions will be open to the public and the entrance is free.

Art. 12 ORIGINALITY

The artist should issue a declaration in which he/she guarantees the stability and the originality of the sculpture stating his/her responsability for not reproducing it.

Art. 13 TRANSPORT

The organizing partners are responsible for the expenses including transport and preparation of the square, where the sculpture will be placed.

Art. 14 PENAL CLAUSE

If for any reason the chosen artist is unable to finsih his/her job within the specified time the organizing secretary may decide to take legal action.

Art. 15 PRIVACY

According to the Italian Law D.L n.16672003 on the rights of Privacy, the use of personal information will be done according the principles of correctness, transparency and legality.

Art. 16 ACCEPTANCE

The participation of the competition, involves the full acceptance of the contents of these rules and must be carried out filling in and signing the schemes 1 and 2.
